Ironically, I felt elated whilst typing this letter even though it meant that I will be jobless at the beginning of April, losing the wonderful benefits I am entitled to for my current job. I was all excited to type out this letter of resignation, folded it up neatly, slotted it into an envelope and handed it over to the senior executive here. Before this, I had much consideration like getting to my students’ house by 6 pm on several weekday nights and I was worried that my next job may not allow me to strike a balance between being a tutor and being a office lady like the current one does, due to the proximity of locations. At the same time, I got to know 3 great colleagues from a neighbouring department, so they keep the picture of working here optimistic at times. Thirdly, I am entitled to paid leave for this job.
BUT! I have sort out my thoughts, the factor of utmost importance should not be whether I can be a punctual tutor, whether my pay will be deducted for not coming to work, whether I will lose contact with Gladys, Vyvian and E Lin. Happiness is! There’s no point working at a place when you aren’t happy at all and you are frequently bulleted with all the sarcastic remarks and reprimanding tones. I wake up every morning possessing the fear that I will get scolding for keying the wrong orders/qty.
Well, I can always keep in contact with my colleagues and I don’t mind even, getting a lesser amount of pay/renumerations for another job. I just hope to be happy.
I emailed my Job Agent-Serene first thing last morning; was glad to hear her radiant voice again and as it was inconvenient to lament about how bad some of the people here were through phone, I emailed her. Serene kindly gave me instructions to tender my resignation and yes, I would be free pretty soon. at last.
YAY! :) counting down to 4th April!
In some ways or other, this job has taught me several lessons of life and perhaps groomed me to be a wee bit stronger, a puny bit more dependable and much more wary of the working environment. Definitely, it has instilled in me a much more valuable lesson of life- that happiness is everything and it cannot be bought with money at times. I hope you learn this important point too! :)
