the vietnamese bride

stories of such, it had been once upon a time, hot favourites of the media.

but I have never been that close to actually understanding how a vietnamese bride-to-be would have felt till today.

This uncle of mine returned to granny's, carrying a black suitcase and following close behind, was a fair and petite lady. She had very nice long, black hair that was tied up with a simple band. Very gently, she gave a smile to everyone in the house, sweeping her head across from one end of the living room to the other, making sure that she doesn't miss anyone out. Afterall, first impression counts and she's aware of that.

to the old, the young, she smiled.

She's only in her early 20's I heard and all she had with her in the luggage were 4 sets of clothes and probably some basic necessities. that's all ?!

My uncle's in his late forties already. Without any prior communications or meet-ups, they met for the first time just yesterday.

Uncle said ok.

So, apparently, she will be stuck together with this guy who's probably more than twice her age... for the rest of the life :( yes, no doubt the guy involved here is my uncle and I know he will be responsible enough to take good care of a family if they ever start one. Nonetheless, my heart kinda wrench, looking at how this young lady who's only a few years older than me, who will soon be married to someone that much older than her.

alright the 20 odd of age difference aside, where are all the elements that are supposed to be present before a marriage gets settled?
where's the courtship?
where's the love?
where's the bickers?

talking about bickers, when will there be any when both parties can't seem to have a common language? They were using the "point-point" language just now.

:(

that sad smiley was...for I don't know. Probably the aunt-to-be. Probably it's the inner me that's feeling a little perplexed by how such marriages can be decided upon.

cross-borders-matchmake.

I will still give them my best wishes if they do get together though.
oh well, I will learn point point language as well.
