got back home some one hour ago after offering my time and manual labour to help mummy with grocery shopping. Kor drove, so the 3 of us travelled to Giant Hypermarket, where we got to see how terrible it is when trolleys are everywhere.
FULLY-FILLED ONES.
ours was inclusive. hahaha.
realised that the working experience last year albeit being nightmar-ish(the thought of those days just send chills down my spine!), has taught me much valuable lessons. I became more appreciative of the people I meet, I understand how complex the working world gets, perhaps not depth but the idea is there. I know that working isn't FUN at all, especially when you get engaged in a service industry. Probably because of having gone through a not-very-pleasant working environment, I felt something just now.
The 3 of us got to this drink section and then amidst the others who were frowning as much as we were over the drinks, there came this middle-aged man who was pulling a trolley kind of thing fetching more stocks. Nope, not the uncle, it's the young lad who seemed to be pushing the trolley with all his might at the back whom I empathised with.
Perhaps barely in his teens; a couple of years younger than me. Nerdy. But that being the case, his action impressed me.
Mum made some enquiries on the purchasing, he answered politely, panting so loudly and trying hard to catch his breath. But apparently a new temp staff like him wasn't sure and gave the incorrect reply. The senior uncle, who was busy arranging the drinks corrected him and gave my mum the rightful reply. Straightafter, the young lad thanked him and apologised sincerely to Mum.
that was what impressed me! I thought that was pretty rare and nice of teenagers these days.
later on, I felt that there was a need to admonish mum about one of her earlier remarks, cos I could see the heart-shattering and low-morale feeling all written on that staff's face, I did it in a nice way of course :)
Then, while queueing to make payment, this staff stood behind us in an attempt to stop the queue and close the cashier counter. Somehow or other, kor and mummy started a conversation with her when we realised she actually lives in JB, and she has to wake up every morning at 5am(work starts at 9am), work for such long hours till the hypermarket closes before she makes her way back home. Bus service would have ended on some days, so she gotta walk from the Singapore custom to Malaysia's custom >.< sleep for barely 4 hours before 5am strikes again.
I have no idea how to describe that tingling emotion in me, but my short encounter with these 2 strangers kinda striked me a lot.
*****
anywayyyyy, I have been tossing and turning on bed just now, but I couldn't get to sleep, despite feeling so exhausted.
how?
I shall go count sheeps hur.
HEY! GOODYNIGHT! :)
